Each gymnast is continually assessed, and at half term intervals given the chance to train solely in one of the disciplines, until a the gymnast meets the criteria for the speciality chosen. It is also the squad where gymnast who do not meet the stringent standard of their preferred discipline remain until they either achieve it, or return to the main club.

Third venue depending on speciality.
This is the sport which involves 4 pieces of equipment:- vault, bar, beam, and floor. It also requires considerable body preparation and commitment.
We have entered competitions at County level, and had limited success at the compulsory grades. As the requirement for this discipline has been increased, and judging tightened, it has been decided not to enter the artistic grades this year and concentrate on preparation. We will keep our options open over other competitions.

At this stage there are no plans to train boys on all 6 piece apparatus. Any boys showing artistic potential are passed on to Pitt Street for further training. We welcome boys who wish to train in the other disciplines, however.
We have sent three boys for further training, in mens artistic, one is now a policeman!, another is in the National Junior Squad, and one is in the Regional Squad.
This sport involves 2 disciplines:- Pairs, trios, mensfours, and Tumbling. We have had considerable success in this sport, and this year a 100% pass rate in the grades. In February all participating gymnasts passed their grades, and this was followed up by our biggest ever entry (13 Gymnasts- 16 entries), at the Regional Championships at Redbridge on Saturday. (8th. December). Again all passed. Level 1:- Matthew Dowell gained a distinction, (average of over 90% on 3 tumble runs), and a gold medal, A.Falcon, 1st., merit, (gold); S.Merlin, 3rd., merit, (bronze); Elizabeth Kempton, merit, 5th.;
Leah Stares, merit, 9th.; L.Harrier, merit, 12th. Level 2:- Rachel Shepherd, merit, 5th., R.Harrier, merit pass, 9th.
Level 3:- Natalie Porter, 1st., merit, (gold), and Jessica Robinson, 3rd., merit, (bronze), all in the tumbling.
In the Novice Womens Pairs, Rachael Pearce, and S.Merlin; Rachel Shepherd, and A.Falcon; and Kirsty Farrell and Rosie Chilvers all attained a proficiency pass.

Last year was an excellent year for Sports Aerobics. Natalie Porter, and Ellie
Sinclair, won gold and bronze, respectively, in the Strachan Cup, in July, and
together with Rachel Shepherd, they were top in their age group at the Regional
Championships in September. Natalie went to Birmingham in October, where she
won a silver medal in her age group at the British Open. This year we have continued
to improve with a Gold for Natalie Porter at the Pinewood Open and Alex Strachen
in her catergory. New competitors this year for individual routines were Rachael
Pearce and Leah Stares, both did themselves and the club proud. Rachel Shepherd
showed a massive improvement on last years routine and we all wish her the best
with future competitions. Watch this space for further developing gymnasts....There's
some really exciting and good work in this section.
This September was our first ever entry into the Welsh Championships. We took
four gymnasts competing in 5 routines and we all enjoyed the experience. Our
continued thanks must go to the support and encouragement we get from other
clubs and in particular within the Southern Region. The results from this competition
were encouraging and we certainly hope to continue to compete at this level.
Leah stares came a creditable 5th place in under 12 NAC. Natalie Porter gained
a gold in under 14 NAC. Rachel Shepherd and Rachael Pearce achieved a bronze
medal in under 14 NAC pairs with a well performed routine. Well done girls.
We also have an adult class.
